Umbrella company contractors could be among those workers who are taking their jobs on holiday with them.
According to a recent study from Intuit, 72 per cent of small business owners who go away on holiday are unable to leave their work behind them. In fact, 14 per cent of those questioned suggested that they spend as much time or more working while on holiday rather than relaxing.
Pernille Bruun-Jensen, managing director of Intuit, commented: “Everybody needs to take time off now and then but our findings show that small business owners never switch off, even when they could really do with switching off.
“Rather than not taking a break at all, many of them are choosing to take their business away on holiday with them. Technological advancements have made this possible with many small business owners being able to run and manage their business anytime, anywhere.”
The research revealed that women appear to be more anxious than men, with 43 per cent of female small business owners stating that they are concerned about taking a break from their business.
New developments in technology could help contractors and others to keep on top of their workload in the most efficient way possible, hopefully allowing them to spend more time on the beach.
